Returns & Exchanges

Target Help
You have up to one year after your event date to return most new, unopened items at your Target store using your return barcode.

You can access the return barcode inside the Target Registry app. Use the menu in the top left-hand corner to select make a return to generate your return barcode. Make sure you also have a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license) and that your items are new, unused and in original packaging with any accessories.

If returning an item that hasn't been marked as purchased on your registry, you'll receive a refund in the form of a merchandise return card. Items purchased from Kid's Wish Lists and Shopping Lists do not have an extended return period and require a receipt or gift receipt for a return/exchange. Visit Target.com/returns for return policy details.

Gift givers are strongly encouraged to include a gift receipt (or Target.com packing slip) whenever a gift is purchased. Gift receipts don't display price information and they make it easy for gift recipients to return their items.

For in-store purchases, gift givers can request gift receipts during checkout, after the time of purchase by bringing the original receipt to Guest Services before it expires, or print a gift receipt from Target.com (if you’ve paid with a card associated to your Target.com account or your Wallet in the Target app).

For Target.com purchases, you can print a gift receipt from your Target.com account

In-store purchase details will appear in your Target.com account if an order is placed in store with any payment card associated to your Target.com account or your Wallet in the Target app. Target Gift Card, check, and cash paid purchase details are not available this time. Transactions will be available within a few hours for up to approximately one year.

If you’d like to see your in-store purchase details:
  1. Sign in to your Target.com account or Create account.
  2. Select Orders.
  3. Toggle to the In-store view (will appear underneath the word Orders).
  4. If you do not see any orders:
    • Select Add a new card.
    • Add a payment card to your account.
    • Navigate back to your Orders.
    • Toggle to the In-store view once again.

Notes:
  • You will see orders that were placed in the store that were made with that associated card number.
  • You may see orders that others have placed if you have given others access to this card number.
  • Orders scanned with your Wallet in the Target app should only show in the account associated with that Wallet.
  • This data is available similarly to how Target stores are able to let you use your payment card to look up a previous order for a return in store without a receipt.
