Extended service plans

Most consumer electronics are eligible for a Target Replacement or Service Plan, with the exception of contract cell phones. Covered products include televisions, projectors, DVD players, MP3 players, video game consoles, clock radios, boom boxes, cameras, camcorders, computers and peripherals. Pre-owned products do not qualify for plans.
The Target Replacement and Service Plans protect against mechanical and electrical breakdowns due to normal wear and tear including the following:
 
  • Normal Wear-and-Tear Protection – covers 100% labor cost within the terms of the plan.
  • Surge Protection – covers your product from the date of purchase.
  • Accidental Damage from Handling – coverage for laptops, tablets and netbooks only. This coverage protects you from damage from spills, drops and cracks.
  • One-time Replacement Batteries – coverage of embedded or rechargeable batteries for digital cameras, camcorders and MP3 players only during the first year of the plan.
  • No Lemon Policy – provides automatic replacement after your product requires repair three times for the same problem. Target reserves the right to issue a Target GiftCard in the amount of the original product purchase price less applicable taxes.

Coverage begins on the date the Target Replacement or Service plan is purchased and is inclusive of the manufacturer's warranty. The end date of coverage is dependent on the plan purchased:
  • Replacement Plan coverage continues for 2 years
  • Laptop plan coverage continues for 2 years
  • Service plan coverage continues for 3 years 
Target Replacement or Service Plans can be purchased after you purchased your product, and varies based on the product.
  • Electronics items: plan must be purchased within 30 days of purchase date in store or ship date on the invoice for Target.com items.
  • Other items: plan must be purchased within 90 days or up to the return by date on your receipt.
  • Limited return items: plan must be purchased within the return by date on your receipt.
You can purchase the plan by:
  • Bringing the original product receipt to any Target Guest Services Desk in the store.
  • Purchasing one on Target.com.
  • Calling Target at 1-866-469-6356.
You will receive instructions by mail along with a copy of your service plan within 7–10 business days after your purchase.
Registration is voluntary, but for extra safety we encourage you to register at www.Target.com/extendedservice. You may also call Target Replacement and Service Plan Guest Services at 1-866-469-6356.
You may transfer your plan to a new owner by calling Target Replacement and Service Plan Guest Services at 1-866-469-6356.
The person who purchased the plan needs to transfer the plan to your name by calling 1-866-469-6356 or submitting a transfer request in writing to: TargetSupport@NewCorp.com. Also, please have the purchase price of the product available.
You can file a claim online at www.Target.com/extendedservice or by contacting the Target Replacement and Service Plan Guest Services at 1-866-469-6356.
Replacement and service plans can be returned to the store within 30 or 90 days of purchase depending on the item. If you purchased your plan online, you can return to the store or call Target Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869. You'll receive a full refund for unused plans. You may receive a prorated refund for any claims submitted.

For plans purchased more than 30 or 90 days ago, depending on the item, you can send a written cancellation request to:

Plans can't be refunded if there are outstanding claims. Depending on the age of the plan, you may receive a prorated refund.
The Target Replacement or Service Plan identification sticker contains your plan number and important phone and website information. Affix the identification sticker to your covered product, or keep the identification sticker in a safe place for future reference. Orders placed on Target.com will receive a letter instead of a sticker—please save this letter for future reference.
