What are the guidelines for writing product reviews on Target.com?

Reviews are your opportunity to share your thoughts and experiences (both positive and negative) about products and services you purchased at Target stores or from Target.com with other Target guests. The following are the guidelines for the submission of reviews on Target.com (“Review Guidelines”). Target reserves the right to make changes to the Review Guidelines at any time and such changes will be effective immediately upon being posted. Each time you write a review, you should review and ensure you comply with the current posted Review Guidelines.

Submitting Reviews
Your review should be related to your purchase from Target, including the reasons why you like or dislike the quality or experience you had with the product or service. If you have any site-related, customer service, shipping, or purchase issues or questions, please contact us or select Help at the bottom of the page to find what you're looking for. If you experience a health or safety issue with the item you are reviewing, please call Target Guest Relations at 1-800-440-0680 or contact us. 

Reviews should reflect your genuine experience with the products and services you are reviewing and be a true and accurate reflection of your honest experience and opinion based on your personal use. Don’t post fake reviews, don’t post the same review multiple times, and don't post reviews for the same product or service from multiple accounts. Make sure your review is factually correct. Reviews must be appropriate to the forum. Reviews must be written in English, and meet these Review Guidelines. 

For any reviews you submit, you grant to Target a non-exclusive right and license to the review, as set forth in our Terms and Conditions. You may include a photo with your review, provided that such photo is related to the item and the photo itself complies with the Review Guidelines. You may not submit copyrighted images or other content unless you own the copyright to such content, or have the express authorization of the copyright owner to do so.

Your review will be posted in five to seven business days. We will post your screen name and location with your review. If you choose to answer reviewer profile questions your responses will also be displayed with your review.  Target does not endorse, recommend or sponsor any guest product reviews, ideas or advice. 

If you received a free product or service from Target or the manufacturer of the product, your review must contain a disclosure of the fact that you received the product or service free of charge. This is to comply with your obligations set forth in the Federal Trade Commission’s Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising. The disclosure must be prominent, clear and conspicuous. In order to do so, make sure you put your disclosure at the top of the review. It can be straightforward – include the name of the free product or service and who provided it (Target or the manufacturer) within the text of your review.

Any Target team member who writes a review must clearly disclose their affiliation with Target (e.g., #TargetEmployee) in the text of the review. Any employee of a Target vendor, seller, agency or contractor who writes a review must clearly disclose their affiliation with Target or the vendor, seller, agency or contractor, respectively, in the text of the review and any compensation provided by Target. 

Removal of Reviews
Target reserves the right to not post a review or to remove a posted review for any reason, including if the review contains any of the following:

• Private or personal information
• False, deceptive, inaccurate or misleading information
• Profanity, obscenities, spiteful remarks, abuse, lewd or indecent language, hate speech, racially or religiously biased or offensive language, sexual content, harassment or other language not suitable for this forum
• Information that includes, demonstrates or encourages the misuse of a product or a hazardous situation
• Illegal activities or that encourages anyone to break any law
• Plagiarism, infringement, defamation, libel, slander, or impersonation
• Comments related to availability or pricing, including references to other products, offers, websites, or competitors
• Political campaigning, commercial solicitation, chain letters, mass mailings or any form of “spam”
• Conflicts of interest
• Emojis of an inappropriate nature
• External links
• Unintelligible content

Any review that we believe to be in violation of these Review Guidelines may be removed at our sole discretion and without notice. We may restrict your ability to submit or post a review when we detect unusual reviewing behavior or to maintain the best possible shopping experience.

Report Suspected Violations
If you see a review containing content that you want to report, use the “Report review” link on the right side of the review.

If someone offers you compensation to create, edit, or post content that violates our Review Guidelines, forward the offer to ethics@target.com. Please include:

• Contact information
• Product detail page
• Screenshot of the compensation offer

After we receive your report, we’ll investigate and take appropriate action.
