When you place an order for a preorder item, we will send an authorization hold request to your card issuer to ensure funds are available. The authorization hold is not an actual charge.
Based on your order type:
- If you ordered only a preorder item:
- The initial authorization hold will be removed a few days after the order is placed.
- A new authorization hold will be placed 7 days before the street date.
- If you ordered the preorder item with other items:
- The initial authorization hold will be removed a few days after the order is placed and after you’ve been charged for the non-preorder items
- A new authorization hold will be placed 7 days before the street date, for the remaining amount of the preorder item.
If any attempt to renew the authorization fails, we’ll notify you and invite you to update your payment tender, as long as the tender or order is eligible to be modified. Some tenders or orders are not eligible and in those instances, your order may be canceled. You won’t be charged for your order until it ships or is ready for pickup.
