Store purchase: Stop by a store
1. You can request a price match at checkout.
2. Bring proof of the price you want to match - the entire printed ad, digital ad, or retailer's primary website. Photos or photo copies are not accepted.
3. Bring the original receipt if you already purchased the item.

Online purchase: Call or chat
1. Chat with us online, or call us at 1-800-591-3869. Find our chat at contactus.target.com.
2. Have ready the current price you want to match - the digital ad, approved retailer's website, or Target store price. Photos or photo copies are not accepted.
3. Have your order number and item information ready.

It may qualify for a price match if...

We're not able to price match if...

  • It's a "Marketplace" price from a 3rd party seller, or an item sold by Target Plus™.
  • If you bought it in a Target store, and the lower price is from a different Target store.
  • If you received a promotional Target GiftCard as part of the original purchase. Or, if the product currently has a Target GiftCard offered as part of a promotion.
  • You are also using a Target Circle offer, Registry completion coupon or other Target coupons. Please review our Store Coupon Policy for additional details. Go to Store Coupon Policy.
  • The price is a competitor doorbuster or lightning deal (including Amazon Prime or Amazon Fresh Exclusive offers), or for prices that only display on a website after log in.
  • The item is on clearance, closeout, liquidation, refurbished or is a typographical error. Other exclusions may apply. See Price Match Policy for full details.

What is Target's price match policy?

  • We remain focused on simplifying the shopping experience to provide great deals when and where our guests want to shop.

Price Match Guarantee
  • We’ll match the price if you buy a qualifying item at Target then find the identical item for less at Target.com, select online competitors, or in Target’s or competitor’s local print ad. Price matches may be requested at time of purchase or within 14 days after purchase. The full list of online competitors (PDF Download) is available online or at Guest Services.
  • If you find a current lower price within 14 days after purchase, just bring in the proof and we will adjust your payment to the lower price, upon request. Target store price matches and adjustments are completed at the store on any lane. For Target.com purchases, call Target.com Guest Services at 1-800-591-3869.

Guidelines and limitations
  • The price for an item must be listed and valid at the time of match. We reserve the right to verify a competitor’s advertised price and the availability of the item. If Target is not able to verify the lower price, we may decline the request. 
  • The item must be the identical item, brand name, size, weight, color, quantity and model number. It must be in stock for shipping and delivery / pickup at the time of Price Match for approved online competitors. It also must be sold and fulfilled by one of these select competitors (PDF Download).
  • Offers found on deal websites will be validated at the retailer’s primary website and must meet all other price match criteria.
  • Please bring the entire printed ad, or show the online price or digital version of the ad on your mobile device for proof of price. Original receipts or packing slips are required for price adjustments after purchase.
  • We match Target.com prices on in-store purchases and in-store prices for Target.com purchases. In-store price matches from other Target stores are excluded.
  • When price matching with the Target app, the Target app must be showing the price of the current store location.
  • Alaska and Hawaii Target stores are excluded from price matching online competitors.
  • No rain checks will be issued for items out of stock at Target or Target.com to match a competitor's price.
  • We reserve the right to deny purchase and limit quantities per guest for local and / or online competitor matches. 

Exclusions
  • Clearance, closeout, liquidation sales, damaged, used, open package, refurbished, pre-owned, or rent/lease to own items, storewide or category promotions, offers advertised as % or $ off, non-branded items, or prices that only display on a website after guests log in.
  • Pricing due to typographical errors, competitor lightning sales (including Amazon Prime or Amazon Fresh Exclusive offers), coupon offers, loyalty cards, promotional codes, credit card offers, gift card offers (Target GiftCard, specialty and pre-paid gift card), financing, service offers, bundled offers, sales tax promotions, free items, rebates or mail-in offers.
  • Contract mobile phone devices and the associated plans, optical, product services (warranties, assembly, etc.), clinic and pharmacy purchases and offers, or game reservations.
  • “Marketplace” prices from third party sellers.
  • Any item sold by a Target Plus™ Partner on Target.com or any Target application are not eligible for price match.
  • Target Circle offers, gift card offers (Target GiftCard, specialty and pre-paid gift card), Registry completion coupons and Target coupons cannot be combined with price match. Manufacturer coupons will be applied after a price match is made, for in-store purchases only. Please review our Store Coupon Policy for additional details.
  • Items containing alcohol will be subject to state-by-state regulations. Alcohol price matching is not allowed for online exclusive retailers (e.g., Amazon).

What is considered a local retail competitor when requesting a price match?

A local retail competitor for store purchases includes retail stores located in the same market area (within a 25-mile radius) of your local Target store.

A local retail competitor for Target.com purchases includes retail stores located in the same market area (within a 25-mile radius) as either the billing address or the shipping address on record for the Target.com purchase.

The store or Target.com Guest Services must be able to successfully validate the price on the local competitor’s website or ad in order to complete the price match. If the price cannot be validated, Target may decline to price match.

Can I price match grocery items?

  • Produce items must be the identical item, brand name (e.g., Dole®, Chiquita®), size, weight and quantity to qualify for price match.
  • Items need to be sold in the same unit of measure (per pound vs. per item).
  • Non-SuperTargets can't match per-pound items.

Do item prices vary between Target.com and Target stores?

Pricing, promotions, styles and availability may vary by store and online. 
  • We match Target.com prices on in-store purchases and in-store prices for Target.com purchases. In-store price matches from other Target stores are excluded.
    • Online clearance prices can't be matched with in-store clearance prices.
  • Online clearance prices are separate from in-store clearance pricing.
    • In-store clearance pricing isn't visible online. Clearance items and pricing can only be found and purchased in-store.
  • When price matching with the Target app, the Target app must be showing the price of the current store location.

What qualifies as proof of a price when requesting a price match?

  • Local printed ads: Present the entire printed advertisement. Photos or photocopies of the ad cannot be accepted as verification of a competitor's printed ad. Digital versions of printed advertisements are accepted. 
  • Online prices: Present the price on your mobile device from a qualifying competitor's website or Target.com. A Target team member will then verify the match using a Target device. Screenshots or pictures cannot be accepted.

Does an item have to be in stock to receive a price match?

Competitor online items must be in stock at the time a price match is requested. Items do not need to be in stock on Target.com in order to request a price match. Guests who visit a Target store due to out of stock issues on Target.com may request a price adjustment at Guest Services when applicable. Rain checks are not given for price match requests if items are out of stock at a Target store and Target.com.

Does Target price match items on comparison-shopping sites?

No; an item’s price must be validated by a team member on Target.com, a competitor’s website, or in Target's or a competitor's local printed or digital ad.

Please note, online search engines may show a different price from the Target.com website due to web caching (memory stored in the computer for future use). The correct prices are on Target.com. Due to timing issues with publishing, the pricing you may find on comparison shopping sites can be outdated.

Can I order an item for the same price/promotion I saw yesterday/last week/last month on Target.com?

If the item is no longer on sale, we aren't able to match any of our previous prices. Prices frequently change on Target.com. Promotions are only valid during the timeframe stated, such as a 3-hour sale with promo code. Promotions are not valid on previous orders.

What should I do if I find an item or pricing error on Target.com?

Despite our best efforts, a small number of items on the site may be mispriced, described inaccurately, or unavailable. We may experience lags in uploading updates throughout the site and in our advertising on other sites.

We don't guarantee the accuracy or completeness of the information on Target.com, including prices, product images, specifications, availability, and services. Target reserves the right to change or update information and to correct errors, inaccuracies, or omissions at any time without prior notice. Does Target offer rain checks?

Yes, a rain check may be available if a sale item is not available at your Target store. The rain check entitles you to today's sale price for the next 30-45 days (varies by state), and can be used at any Target store. Target can't guarantee product availability or hold merchandise and does not provide notifications when the product is available. However, substitutes are offered whenever possible. Ask a store team member for help.

Exclusions:
  • Clearance, Price Cut, Temporary Price Cut and Everyday Low Price items that are excluded from the Weekly Ad and items that state "No Rain Checks" can't be rain-checked.
  • No rain checks or substitutions are available for contract cell phones.
  • Music, movie and software titles can't be substituted.
  • Rain checks are not offered on Target.com.
  • Only paper rain checks are issued and accepted.
