Returns & Exchanges

Target Help
You have up to one year after your event date to return most new, unopened items at your Target store using your return barcode.

You can access the return barcode inside the Target Registry app. Use the menu in the top left-hand corner to select make a return to generate your return barcode. Make sure you also have a government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license) and that your items are new, unused and in original packaging with any accessories.

If returning an item that hasn't been marked as purchased on your registry, you'll receive a refund in the form of a merchandise return card. Items purchased from Kids' Wish Lists and Shopping Lists do not have an extended return period and require a receipt or gift receipt for a return or exchange. Visit Target.com/returns for return policy details.

Gift givers are strongly encouraged to include a gift receipt (or Target.com packing slip) whenever a gift is given. Gift receipts don't display price information and they make it easy for gift recipients to return their items.

For in-store purchases, gift givers can request gift receipts during checkout. Gift givers can also request gift receipts after the time of purchase by bringing the original, unexpired receipt to Guest Services. Finally, gift givers can also print a gift receipt from Target.com if they paid with a card associated to your Target.com account or your Wallet in the Target app.

For Target.com purchases, you can print a gift receipt from your Target.com account

In-store purchase details will appear in your Target.com account and within your Target app when:
  • Your Wallet barcode is scanned at the register to apply Target Circle offers
