For grocery shipping, pickup and delivery orders in eligible states, simply pay online using your EBT card at checkout.  
  1. Update payment information in your Target account  
    • Sign into your Target account from the Target app or Target.com.
    • Go to your account.
      • In the Target app, you'll need to then select the settings gear icon.
    • Select Payments or Payment cards.
    • Select Add payment card.
    • Select payment card type EBT card.  
    • Add EBT card. Enter card number and optionally select as default payment. SNAP EBT balance will be applied to SNAP-eligible items. Select Save.  
  2. Build your cart and check out.
    • At checkout, you'll be able to edit the amount applied to the SNAP EBT payment if needed prior to selecting Place your order.  
    • You'll need to enter your EBT PIN and select Confirm.

After swiping your EBT card at checkout, you'll receive a prompt asking you to select which account (EBT cash or SNAP EBT balance) you want to use.

You can use your SNAP EBT balance for any SNAP-eligible items. After that, you'll be able to use another tender to pay for any remaining items that are not SNAP-eligible.

  • Items that are not SNAP-eligible, Target Plus™ items, substitutions, fees, delivery or shipping fees and tips will need to be paid for with a secondary form of payment.

Your additional payment method will be used for any remaining total not covered by the EBT card applied to your order. This can include:  
  • Items not eligible for SNAP EBT  
  • Shipping or delivery fees  
  • Substitution items

If you’re using Same Day Delivery (shopped by Shipt), your additional payment method will also be used for the following:  
  • Items you add by texting your shopper or in the special instructions at checkout  
  • The difference in weight for any price-per-pound items, if the purchased item exceeds the weight you selected when ordering  
  • Any tip you add for your Shipt shopper

At this time we do not accept EBT cash online. If you do not have a credit or debit card, but would like to purchase items, you can use a gift card.

We do accept EBT cash in stores.

Any canceled or returned items that were initially paid for with an EBT card will get a refund back to the EBT card. For returned items that were purchased online, you’ll receive an email with the amount refunded to your EBT card and your new SNAP EBT balance.

Yes. Once you are done adding items to your order, select Charge more to EBT card on order details to charge more of your order to your EBT card.

  • Order Pickup: There are no minimum purchase thresholds for pickup orders. 
  • Same Day Delivery: If you're paying with an EBT card, you can place an order below the $35 minimum, but will need to pay a $7 delivery fee with another form of payment.
  • EBT cards cannot be used to purchase Shipt memberships.
  • Shipping: Orders less than $35 with add-on items can be placed, but there will be a $5.99 shipping fee applied to the order.

Most items paid for with an EBT card in store or online can be returned within 90 days in accordance with Target's return policy.
